Importance of densifying courses of bituminous concrete pavement; illustrated description of density control unit as used by Ohio Dept of Highways; in order to take undisturbed pavement sample directly after surface is finished by rollers, small area of pavement is frozen with dry ice and 4-in. diam core is removed with abrasive core drill; average of 7 to 10 projects can be checked in five days.
