Field study of structural performance of flexible anchored bulkhead which retains 55-ft height of fine sand hydraulic fill in Long Beach Harbor, Calif; during filling, lateral soil pressure distribution was approximately in proportion to weight of overlying fill; after completion of filling, lateral pressures above wale increased sharply and those below decreased due to settlement of fill accompanying partial support of fill on tie rods and wale.
