Experiments with roof bolting to prove adaptability of roof bolting, and to determine possible cost savings; geologic conditions difficult; it is concluded that bolting is effective where anchorage can be obtained in stratum that has not flexed to any extent; placing bolts before collaring of openings has reduced overbreak and timber requirements; fire hazards reduced; maintenance costs are lower.
