Review of ventilation of some deep mines (Witwatersrand Gold Fields)
Ventilation of Central Mining-Rand Mines Group; basic production and ventilation data in tabulated form; attempt made to forecast temperatures at 10, 000-ft horizon and to estimate length of stope face which could be ventilated at this depth; main conclusion is that, even with wet mining methods, it should be practical to mine to depth of 10,000 ft. (See also - discussion pt 9 p 437-44; Chem, Met and Min Soc S Africa -- J v 52 n 8 Feb 1952 p 168-86 (discussion) 186-96 and v 53 n 1 July p 22-4)
