In September, 21 mo after start of construction, Washington Water Power Co operated first of four 50,000-kw generators at new Cabinet Gorge plant on Clark Fork River in northern Idaho; dam is variable radius concrete arch structure 208 ft high, 44 ft wide at base and 35 ft wide at top; 600 ft in length, it will impound water to depth of 110 ft above former water surface with 43,000 acre-ft of usable storage; construction details.
