Important developments in concrete for dams reviewed
Deteriorating effect of alkali aggregate in mass concrete can be equalized by addition of pozzolan; for example, Hungry Horse Dam, Mo, contains 30% of fly ash, by-product of coal burning power plants; tests and experience show that such combination also imparts to mass concrete other desirable characteristics; experiences with air entraining agents, pre-packed concrete and control of consistency.
