Method of making closure entailed hydraulic placement of combination sill and weir section of dredged chalk fill on top of previously blanketed riverbed, up to 1-ft above river level, then building diversion dam to safe height with dump trucks; all material in blanket, sill and weir pumped into place by 30-in. dredge.
