Fast schedule for cabinet gorge dam
Concrete arch dam, 192 ft high, is on Clark Fork river, 10 mi above Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho; ten tunnels are to be driven; included are two diversion tunnels, each 1100 ft long and 29 ft diam; dam contains 82,000 cu yd of concrete; 50,000-kw generators will each be driven by 70,500-hp Kaplan turbines, three of fixed blade type and one of adjustable blade type; winter construction problems discussed.
