Pretensioned units for prestressed concrete bridge built on job
Shortage of steel, fact that concrete bridge could be constructed more quickly and lower maintenance costs offered by concrete, led to construction of prestressed concrete bridge at Roseville, Ohio; nine prestressed beams spaced at 3 ft on centers; minimum deck thickness over top of beams 4 1/2 in.; each beam required 32 7-wire strands pretensioned to 160,000 psi prior to placing concrete.
