Renewal of bridge in reinforced concrete
Timber truss bridge of 80 and 40-ft spans built in 1888, replaced by new bridge of two 48-ft approach and two 65-ft center spans; new pier with three 6-ft diam cylinders placed at 11-ft centers and extending 6 ft into bed of river; cylinders were constructed in part, and shifted, lengthened and finally sunk to level by means of excavation in compressed air; new method of placing and shifting cylinders by floating pontoons.
