Study of thermal process in carbonization of wood; tests made with electric heating inside cylindrical testpieces, heat delivered being measured and heat losses determined at same time by compensation device; tests also made with external heating of solid cylindrical testpieces, heat delivered being measured and heat losses determined at same time by compensation device; tests also made with external heating of solid cylindrical testpieces, surrounding temperature being rapidly raised for each test to constant value, which was then maintained throughout test.
