Temperature variation and shrinkage effects on reinforced concrete portal frames
Theory for calculation of stresses and bending moments together with examples show that for spans of 20 ft or more, consideration should be given to effects of deformation due to temperature variation, shrinkage, shortening of deck due to direct compressive stresses and yield in lateral direction of foundations.
