Minimum weight design of enclosed antennas
Minimization of total weight of tiltable component of enclosed antenna structure with given topology and given initial design subject to relative deformation constraints in both face-up and face-side attitudes as well as to certain structural constraints is formulated, and solution to this problem is sought by modified version of gradient projection method of nonlinear programming; solution is obtained in two steps by first finding feasible solution, and then minimizing total weight subject to structural and deformation constraints; method is tested by optimizing plane truss of large radio telescope antenna.
