New tanker installations in Gulf of Fos (Marseilles); located on shore of turning basin, sheltered by breakwaters, and dredged to 20 m depth, two special wharfs will be able to accommodate 200,000 to 300,000 tdw tankers; linked with breakwater by wide strip, wharfs consist of reinforced concrete prefabricated bottomless cylinders 9 m OD, 8.2 m ID juxtaposed to form continuous quay and carrying 1 m thick 20 m wide concrete slab; description of wharf construction and of automatic tanker unloading installation capable of conveying 14,000 cu m/hr of crudes to oil tank farm.
