The 180 m. suspension bridge, originally designed and delivered as a light pipe and foot bridge, was reconstructed into a full-size highway bridge capable of carrying about 1.8 times original load. Design, construction and reconstruction were carried out by Aug. Klonne, Dortmund, Germany.
