Security from under-seepage -- Masonry dams on earth foundations
Investigation of more than 200 dams with various kinds of earth foundation, to determine length of percolation path necessary to prevent failure from piping; new method of analysis permitting use of smaller seepage distances than ordinarily considered safe; data on weep-holes, drains, and reverse filters; fault of neglecting lesser resistance along contact of dam with its foundation. (See also - discussion n 10 Dec p 1538-41)
