Clay dikes in Redstone coal, West Virginia and Pennsylvania
Clay dikes in this coal are so common that they are believed to result from definite set of conditions; field study was limited to four mines; origin of clay dikes is attributed to penetration from slate above coal, through fissures resulting from well directed stress, direction of which operated vertically to form compressive shears.
