Design and construction of concrete-arch overflow dam, 230 ft. high, built by Aluminum Co. of America at Calderwood, Tenn., 45 miles south of Knoxville; downstream toe is protected by deep cushion pool formed by 40 ft. gravity dam; preparations made to measure deflection of full-size arch dam under various loads; details of concrete armor and jet deflectors, intake structure, 2400 ft. pressure tunnel and differential surge chamber blasted out of solid rock.
