More outstanding properties of clays studied are raw strength, fired color, craze resistance, and rate of vitrification; porosity and fired volume shrinkage of Saskatchewan clays correspond more nearly to those of English ball clays than do Tennessee-Kentucky clays as studied by Sortwell.
