Flooded basements are divided into three classes; basements constructed where there are no sewers, basements built below sewer level, and basements subject to sewer back-up; in first two cases flooding is usually due to seepage; remedies suggested, such as automatic electric sump pumps and installation of back-water trap and pump; various types of pumps are: automatic, open impeller, submerged, and centrifugal.
