New road and rail bridge in New South Wales
Bridge described is 1510 ft. long and consists of eight spans, one of which is single-hinged leaf bascule type; superstructure is to be carried on seven concrete piers taken down to solid rock which lies at depths varying from 30 ft. to 76 ft. below high-water level, tallest pier being about 98 ft. from foundation to top level; they are being built on steel caissons sunk under compressed air.
