Hydraulics simulates bridge loading
Full scale military bridges tested with machine where thrust of four hydraulic cylinders produces static loading, and one hydraulic cylinder oscillates bridge at its natural frequency; frame accommodates bridges 40 ft wide, 30 ft high, up to 240 ft long; concrete embedded columns support pair of girders which may be raised or lowered; cylinders produce uplift force up to 400 tons; system withstands pressures up to 10,000 psi.
