Pavement design for Nairobi's new international airport
Runway for single wheel load of 60,000-lb tire pressures of 200 psi; 2-3 ft thick clay soil overlying 200 ft thick lava flow was encountered; uneven lava surface, with craters up to 120 ft diam therein, contained decomposed rock and clayey materials; base course was 5 1/2 in. constructed in two layers and 4-in. surface course in two layers; slab construction and bituminous surfacing.
