Progress report on driving 28 1/2 mi. bore through Coast Range which is last mountain barrier to be pierced before water from Hetch Hetchy can be delivered in San Francisco; organization and method developed for holding squeezing ground by sublining of gunite; plant installation and shaft sinking; cross-cuts to future tunnel provide working space at foot of shafts; pumping stations; standard timbering; air spades used for excavating in soft ground; deflection measurements taken in studies of rock pressures.
