In Detroit-Canada International Tunnel, use was made of latest developments; river section was built of 250-ft. steel tubes, 31 ft. in diam., sunk into dredged trench in river bottom, joined together under water, jacketed and waterproofed with concrete placed by tremie, lined with reinforced concrete, and finished with enameled steel tile; special machine prepares sand bed; sinking tubes; ventilation system; appraised at value of $23,000,000.
