Longest continuous railroad trusses yet constructed
New bridge of Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, at Cincinnati, has anchorage pier of unusual design to resist longitudinal force of 2200 kips; plan provides 675 ft. channel span, 37.14 ft. above high water, and side spans 450 ft. long between centers of bearings; designing continuous span; heavy secondary stresses avoided; providing for expansion.
