Herval bridge in Sta. Catharina, Brazil, comprising continuous reinforced-concrete frame, with main span of 224 ft.; main piers were built as forked columns with girders carried on pin bearings during construction stage; on completion of construction, bearings were embedded in concrete, converting structure into continuous rigid frame; bridge erected by cantilevering in 5-ft. sections, form boards supplying support.
