Stress distribution in reinforced concrete members with tension cracks
Axial stress distribution parallel with and perpendicular to main reinforcement was investigated for tension, compression, and flexural members with tension cracks; measured surface strain distribution is compared with calculated distribution assuming that concrete behaves as ideal elastic material; surface strain distribution was measured for 37 tension, 10 flexural and 2 eccentric compression members as function of percentage of reinforcement, concrete strength, shape and size of members.
