Temperature stresses in tall reinforced-concrete buildings
De sign problems of buildings with exposed structural members caused by temperature differential, which may reach 100 F, between exposed outside surfaces and inside heated or cooled surfaces are discussed; graphs, calculated in IBM 1620, are included to show extent of some problem areas; differential displacements and stresses due to elongation and shrinkage of columns must be taken into account throughout design and construction.
