Dynamic stability of axially vibrating columns
Study of development of flexure through interaction of pulsating axial force with flexural curvature caused by slight imperfections in axial motion of elastic column; conditions required for flexural growth to occur are given; flexural modes of rather high order may be strongly excited with almost all of original energy being transferred into flexural motion.
