Buckling behavior of inelastic column
Numerical procedure is presented for determination of inelastic buckling behavior of initially straight or wavy, column before and after occurrence of maximum load; it is shown that point of bifurcation of equilibrium positions may occur for initially straight as well as wavy column; beyond tangent modulus load of initially straight column, bent configuration is preferred because of its lower potential energy; maximum load of imperfect column depends on amplitude as well as wave shape of initial imperfection.
