Some observations on mechanical twinning in polycrystalline niobium
Twin formation and competitive nature of deformation by slip and by twinning were studied in material tested in tension at -196 C; room temperature prestrain was found to inhibit low temperature twinning; this effect was pronounced only for prestraining beyond upper yield stress; aging after prestraining restored low temperature propensity for twinning.
