Front and rear cladding units of Livingston houses are large story-high timber panels prefabricated by Muirhead of Edinburgh and supplied ready glazed and painted; roof finish comprises three layers of bituminous felt finished with chippings over preformed polystyrene which provides necessary fall; during erection of superstructure, prepackaged materials, including precut floorboards, mechanical and electrical equipment, internal partitions and bathroom fittings, are lifted into building in readiness for various operations; wet trades are eliminated and paint or wallpaper is applied directly to smooth surfaces of 12M Jespersen concrete panels.
