Nation's tallest lift-slab building
Design and construction of apartment building for R.D.Sawyer Investment Co near Salt Lake City, featuring post-tensioned liftslab floors on steel columns, is described; some innovations in winter concreting methods include use of pressed metal forms and Griflon film glass reinforced polyvinyl tent to cover entire project; tent is translucent and strong and protective enough to prevent damage from wind and cold; lifting will be done with 40 hydraulic jacks, each with 75-ton capacity, to raise 550-ton slabs two at time.
