Reinforced polyesters
Bulk of 66 million lb of glass-reinforced polyesters applied to buildings in 1964 was for facings of sandwich panels, flat and corrugated sheet, glazing, concrete pouring forms and pans; advantages include high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, colorability, resistance to heat distortion, formability; disadvantages to be overcome for building use are low modulus, flammability and weathering problems; RP modules for fabricating shelters; RP-faced sandwich modules for hotel and building construction.
