A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Patterns of polystyrene foam, used for forming pockets in concrete for hold-down bolts, and openings in concrete walls and slabs, save time and labor over use of timber boxes; for forming special shapes of concrete, reinforced plastics molds may show similar savings, especially if molds are reused; polystyrene liners for concrete forms produce smooth surfaces; polystyrene and polyurethane foam are used as laminates for concrete floor insulation; applications of polystyrene foam include temporary filling of gaps in concrete, and for protection of concrete roofs.
