On natural periods and earthquake resistant design of long span suspension bridges
Earthquake ground motion is applied to suspension bridge through two tower bases and two anchorages; these points are connected to superstructures, and subjected to complicated dynamic effects of earthquake; natural frequencies of long span suspension bridge are obtained by computer methods assuming some idealized structural systems and, methods of earthquake resistant design of long span suspension bridges which are related with rigidities of structural systems are discussed; some results of computation of dynamic responses of structure are also given and are applied to design methods.
