Suspension bridge has deck of precast, post-tensioned concrete
Precast concrete multicell box girder segments, each about 20 ft long and weighing 90 tons, form deck of 680-ft-long suspension bridge over Peace River near Hudson Hope in remote area of northern British Columbia; after hanging 34 precast segments on suspender cables attached to two main cables, entire deck was post-tensioned longitudinally; backstays of suspended span are anchored in rock about 200 ft from towers; span clears mean high water by 84 ft; 4-ft 1-in. deep concrete box girder serves both as roadway deck and stiffening element.
