A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Characteristics of impact caused in shorter span bridge by train passing at speed of 100 km/hr were studied; data of field tests on span girders having span length less than 30 m are analyzed and theory of impact factor presented in which kinetic energy, strain energy, and dissipation function are determined by expanding deflection of bridge into Fourier series and put into Lagrange equation of motion. (See also Tokyo, Ry Tech Research Inst -- Quarterly Report v 5 n 2 June 1964 p 22-5)
