Short span highway bridges with wide stringer spacing and two-way reinforced concrete deck
Evaluation was made of current practice and future possibilities in bridge design, fabrication, and erection from which it was concluded that use of wide stringer spacings with two-way reinforced concrete decks will generally result in substantial savings in cost and that continuous spans, even when spans are quite short, are generally more economical than simple spans; design investigations for 180 ft portion of bridge which has total length of 822 ft 3 in. is dealt with; results of letting to contract 12 bridges using this system are compared in cost to other steel stringer bridges of similar spans using standards of Oklahoma State Highway Dept.
