Dynamic response of simple-span highway bridges in inelastic range
Numerical method and computer program were developed for computation of dynamic response of simple-span highway bridges in inelastic range of deformation under action of moving vehicles; bridge was idealized as single beam represented by series of rigid bars of equal length connected by flexible joints; two beam models were studied considering mass of beam to be either distributed along bars or concentrated at point masses placed at joints; results are presented in form of tables, spectrum and time history curves for interacting forces, moments and deflections, and their corresponding dynamic increments.
