Pinned, precast struts simplify prestressed girder erection
Faced with necessity for speed in replacing vital logging bridge destroyed by floods in mountains of western Washington maximum use was made of precast and prestressed concrete elements to build new crossing in less than two months; new, 180-ft-long bridge is three span structure supported near one-third points by inclined, precast struts pinned at both ends.
