Structural behavior of concrete box girder bridge
Field tests of new structure on State highway system, Harrison Street Undercrossing, in Oakland, Calif are discussed in detail; structure was instrumented with SR-4 electrical resistance strain gages, Carlson strainmeters, and deflectometers to permit measurements of longitudinal and transverse strains and girder deflections resulting from dynamic loading provided by heavily loaded R-15 Euclid dump truck; tests were conducted first without intermediate diaphragm, secondly with single intermediate diaphragm, and then after addition of curbs and barrier railings.
