Study of influence of horizontal force acting on pile-supported foundation either on vertical piles only or with battered piles at both ends, load distribution between different piles, and settlement of foundation as whole; experimental data are compared with results computed from different theories; reasonable agreement was found in case of piers consisting of vertical piles only, whereas for piers with battered piles at both ends scatter is much greater and theoretical assumptions do not seem correct.
