Post-tensioned concrete "T" piers provided ideal supports for highway viaduct in Providence, RI; flexure analysis is performed as elementary cantilever with post-tensioning of outreaching arms; nominal reinforcement at top of "T" supports concrete, permitting removal of forms before post-tensioning; high-strength wire cable is used to produce fiber stress in compression of 2000 psi at top and zero at bottom; each cable is overstressed to allow for early relaxation.
