Stresses in stiffening beams of Skewed-Slab bridges
Experimental study was carried out on stiffened aluminum plates skewed at angles of 30° and 45°, to determine strains throughout beams due to concentrated load on plate; influence surfaces for strain at various points on beam are given; large reversals of strain in beam were discovered very close to obtuse-angles corners of slab, and value of strain over this length of beam increased critically with angle of skew.
