Stresses and deflections in Presweld girders
Problems associated with stress distribution, deflection, stability and failure of Presweld girders were investigated; stresses due to axial forces were calculated first, and then secondary stresses due to stiffness of joints, eccentricity at joints, and fixing at ends were determined; deflection curves and theoretical stresses are compared with those observed experimentally and some improvements to Presweld girders are suggested. (See also n 700 Nov 1964 p 1383, 1385, 1387, 1389, 1391)
