Calculation of beam on uniform elastic foundation
Differential equation is derived and solved for case when plastic hinge forms on bottom side of beam; this results in change in moment distribution and in decrease of largest moment value; above mechanism is possible in reinforced concrete beam if it is assumed that prestress action completely closes cracks after unloading and beam reverts to its original functional capability.
