Tests on rectangular post-tensioned hollow beams without web reinforcement are reported; under 2 symmetrically placed concentrated loads hollow beams may fail in shear or in flexure; failures in shear occur by splitting, with or without some crushing of concrete in compression zone; transition from shear to flexure failure is not clearly defined; expressions for predicting ultimate moment in shear and flexure are presented.
