Shearing tests on continuous beams
Following earlier extensive investigation of shear strength of simply supported reinforced concrete beams, continuous two-span beams were tested; in general, behavior of continuous beams was similar to that of comparable single span beams, except for detrimental effect of poorer bond of longitudinal reinforcement over intermediate support, which sometimes led to premature failure; stress distribution and cracking patterns are shown.
